Advanced: Archival and deletion

When an organization is no longer needed there are a few options for how to remove it from Redivis contexts.

Archival

Organization archival is intended for organizations that are no longer active but still contain useful information. Archiving an organization will remove it from discovery contexts but still allow members and administrators to access historic access submissions, logged events, or DOI and citation information.

Archiving an organization will archive all of its datasets and prevent new datasets or workflows from being created. All other organization materials and functionality will be preserved, so administrators will be able to create reports, and view historic logs and billing information. All members and member access submissions will persist in the same state for consistency, even though archived datasets can't be analyzed or exported.

An archived organization within an institution does not count toward the institution's organization limit for billing purposes. Institution administrators can see all archived organizations in their administrator panel.

Unarchival

An organization can be unarchived by an administrator at any point to resume activity. Datasets will need to be unarchived separately.

When an organization is unarchived all member access to data is instantly restored so members will be able to access any unarchived dataset they previously had access to.

Deletion

Organization deletion is intended for organizations that never contained useful information or will never need to be referenced again. Deleting will remove the organization from discovery contexts and remove all organization branding and customization. A shell page will be preserved for historic citation purposes.

Before an organization can be deleted all of its datasets must first be deleted. All members will be removed, and administrators will no longer be able to access the administrator panel for logging and reporting tools.
